RECONNECTING

Tuning Up

Hola!

It's been a while since I last wrote to you here. I've been wanting to reach out for quite some time but was patiently waiting to finalize a project that kept me busy for the last few months. It's launching soon, I'll reveal more about it in the coming weeks, but I wanted to already drop you a message and reconnect.

On that note, don't hesitate to hit the reply button and respond to this or any future communication. It brings me joy to get to know every person subscribed to the newsletter, I'd love this to be a two-way exchange, and I take great pleasure in reading and replying to every email.

By the way, if you use Gmail, move this email to your Primary tab to not miss updates.

How are things on your side? What have you been up to lately? Tell me about the most exciting part of your summer so far. Or maybe your current inspirations?

Write soon,

Choucri

P.S. Here is something for you.

The Moving Finger - Dorothy Ashby

1970

Along with Alice Coltrane, Dorothy Ashby popularized the use of the harp in jazz, proving that it could be as suitable for bebop as the saxophone. The American composer was in a league of her own, and the closing track of her 1970 album The Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby is the epitome of jazz fusion. Ashby dedicated it to the writings of Omar Khayyam, and she not only played her usual jazz harp on it but the Japanese koto too - she even sang a bit. Organic psychedelia and groovy harmonies that hit the spot. Happy listening!
